Overview

The road from Marrakech to Ouarzazate crosses some of southern Morocco’s most striking landscapes, from the high mountain curves of the Tizi n’Tichka Pass to the earthen villages that mark the approach to the desert regions. This private day trip begins with an early departure from Marrakech and follows the road through the High Atlas Mountains, with stops at selected viewpoints along the way. The main visit is Ait Ben Haddou, a historic fortified village built from earth and clay. Time is provided to walk through the ksar, explore its narrow passages and enjoy views across the surrounding valley. The journey then continues to Ouarzazate, a quiet southern city known for its kasbahs and connection to Morocco’s film industry. Depending on your interests and the available time, you may visit Taourirt Kasbah, a film studio or enjoy a short panoramic tour of the city. Because the route covers a considerable distance, this excursion is best suited to travelers who are comfortable with a long driving day and want to experience the High Atlas, Ait Ben Haddou and Ouarzazate without staying overnight.
